Whistle While We Work!

Elections for President and Secretary will be held at the beginning of the meeting.

Baby hats for Soin Medical, Hats and Scarves for our service men and women, and, of course, our Learn to Knit kits… Miami Valley Knitting Guild members are amazingly good at sharing our time and talents! And, this summer has been one to remember! At Carillon Park’s Mini Maker Fest in July, our Learn to Knit Kits were being used almost as fast as we could make them! Then came the Celtic Fest, and additional calls for baby hats from Soin. And now, colder weather is soon to make an appearance, meaning our service men and women will need the warmth that we can provide.

Past experience has shown that our dedicated knitters produce more charity items when the yarn and patterns are pre-packaged in a kit. And, we need more Learn to Knit kits for the Wool Gathering. Hence, the need for a Charity Work meeting. Please join us on September 6th where we will break into groups to facilitate assembly of Charity and Learn to Knit kits!

“So let’s whistle while we work it
And smile while we’re knitting
And whistle while we work it”

Bust’a Stash!

We’ve all been there. The stash is taking on a life of its own, creeping around the closet door….inching its way out from under the bed….claiming its own seat on the living room sofa. Before it up and demands control of the remote, Something Must Be Done. It is time for a stash bust.

But how? What do you do with that one lonely skein that is too short on yardage, too feltable, and too pretty to give up on? What do you do with the seemingly infinite supply of leftovers; not long enough for a project, but not short enough to throw out? What do you do with that pattern you’re just dying to make, but there is absolutely zero yarn in your stash that is suitable? (Seriously, zero yarn—even after going through the yarn that somehow found its way into the kitchen pantry.)

Join us August 2nd as we take an out-of-the-box look at stash busting. We’ll show you some creative and inventive ways to approach both yarn and patterns to make stash busting a frolic in the park. Feel free to bring in some examples of your own creative stash busting projects!
