It’s time! We haven’t taken much time to show off our creations! So, this month you are invited to bring your top (or bottom, de-pending on your sense of humor) THREE knit items to show off. You might want comments to help you decide about your fair posting or you might just want to show off what you wore to your own or someone else’s wedding. It’s up to you — just no more than 3 pieces, please!
We will also brain storm about future meetings so…. What would you like to :
Please bring with you a circular needle in a size that you would use to knit the worsted weight yarn, that you will also bring with you. This will be so that you can try to do what is variously called, Lever Knitting or Catholic Knitting or Irish Knitting. It will be best if the yarn is NOT grabby and that your needle IS slick. If you have done this method of knitting before you might be used to using long, straight needles — and indeed you may want to try it that way. I find that the curve of the circular needle helps with the “bounce” needed to drive the needle to the yarn. We will just be knitting a trial swatch, so don’t bring “important” yarn with you — a leftover ball will be good enough.
We will also have order forms for our Guild branded blouses and polo shirts, our new tape measures and iron on decals (appropriate for use on any WHITE fabric), at the meeting. Payment may be made by check (payment must be made when you order your shirt — range is $25-$35 depending on style and size xs-5XL)
I look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday!
Remember to bring your Show and Tell!
The Miami Valley Knitting Guild
Meets at the Beavercreek Church of the Nazerene
North Fairfield Road
First TUESDAY of every month
in the Fireside Room
We have looked for a site for the Guild to meet in the middle of the Miami Valley so that we are most centrally located within the geographic area called the Miami Valley. We have considered at least 7 places, continuing to search for a place that is free, accessible, able to seat at least 50 so that we can continue to grow, and in the middle of our “area.” We have found a new, wonderful home!!!!!!!
The Beavercreek Church of the Nazarene has accepted our request to use their Fireside room for the next 6 months (they only accept applications for room use for 6 months at a time)!!! The hope is that we will continue to meet there for a very long time!
The room is very much like the room that we currently have been using at Sycamore Hospital with the addition of a permanently installed projector and screen; a sink and counter top for our refreshements and displays. The chairs appear to be much more comfortable — they are more padded!!!!! We can have tables if we would like to have them.
Because we have moved to a church venue, we must move our meeting night to a night other than Wednesdays!!!! They have a very large midweek service and are not able to accomodate us on that evening.
So, Beginning June 4th we will meet at 7:00pm at the Beavercreek Church of the Nazerene
Watch for an upcoming announcement about the program — We will all like what we hear!!!!
See you just inside the front door of the church in the room to the right, on Tuesday, June 4th.
